LANSING, MI -- Gov. Rick Snyder has proclaimed Friday, Dec. 4, as "Spartan Green Day" in support of the Michigan State football team.
Snyder in his proclamation encouraged Michigan residents to wear green on Friday ahead of Saturday's Big Ten championship game against No. 4-ranked Iowa in Indianapolis. Michigan State is No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings.
Lt. Gov. Brian Calley, a Michigan State graduate, presented the proclamation to Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio and the team Wednesday.
Snyder, a University of Michigan graduate, in his proclamation said the Spartan football team has "continuously demonstrated the utmost commitment to the game, their school and their fans.
