EVANSTON, Ill. – Lansing State Journal columnist Graham Couch gives his takeaways from Michigan State basketball's 77-72 win over Northwestern on Wednesday:
1. Foster Loyer showed something he hadn’t since high school – then reality hit
You can feel the pull for Foster Loyer. People want to find hope for MSU’s sophomore backup point guard. And so when you see a flash of the high school legend you once knew — or heard about — it’s worth noting.
Loyer hit a shot in the first half of Wednesday’s 77-72 MSU win at Northwestern that I hadn’t seen since the state finals his senior year at Clarkston High School — late in the shot clock, he pulled up confidently in front of a defender and let it fly from deep.
