Former MSU gymnastics coach will turn herself in, plead not guilty to lying charges

Former Michigan State University women's gymnastics coach Kathie Klages is planning to plead not guilty to two charges of lying to a peace officer that came out of an investigation into the school after the Larry Nassar scandal.

Klages is expected to turn herself in at the Lansing Police Department at 8 a.m. Thursday, according to the Attorney General's office. She is expected to be arraigned following her arrest.

Klages' attorney, Mary Chartier, said in an email Tuesday Klages "will plead not guilty, and we are confident that she will be cleared of these allegations."

Klages was charged with a felony and a misdemeanor charge of lying to a peace officer.
