ESPN reports that Los Angeles Police Department officers came across a large group of people playing loud music and smoking marijuana during a routine patrol in a housing project in the Watts neighborhood on Wednesday night.

When officers tried to disperse the crowd, a disturbance began that led to five LAPD vehicles and one sheriff's vehicle being damaged.
