Former Michigan State point guard Keith Appling apologized to police officers and the community on Thursday as he was sentenced to a year in jail for a gun charge.
Appling was sentenced to one year in jail plus four more years of probation for carrying a concealed weapon and resisting police, according to the Associated Press.
The charges stem from an incident last August in which he drove away from a traffic stop in Detroit. Prosecutors dismissed two other charges he faced as part of the plea agreement.
In a video from his sentencing, posted by Fox 2, Appling apologizes to police officers and to his community.
