Herb Adderley, one of three former Michigan State players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, died Friday. He was 81.
A two-way player for Duffy Daugherty from 1958-60, Adderley ran for 813 yards and four touchdowns and caught 28 passes for 519 yards and four scores during his MSU career. He was a co-captain for the Spartans in 1960 and earned first-team All-Big Ten honors as a halfback.
Adderley’s full-time move to become an NFL cornerback under Vince Lombardi in Green Bay turned the 6-foot, 205-pounder into a star and the Packers into a championship force.
