Former Michigan State safety Kurtis Drummond arrived in NFL with a sudden impact

EAST LANSING — Kurtis Drummond remembers the start of his first NFL game like it was yesterday, but the ending is a little fuzzy.

Drummond, the 2014 Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year, went undrafted last year before signing with Houston and being placed on the Texans practice squad.

After being called up to the 53-man roster halfway through the season, in his first appearance with the team on Nov. 1 against Tennessee, Drummond sped down the field and delivered a fumble-inducing hit on Bishop Sankey.

The problem was, Drummond was temporarily knocked unconscious on the play and suffered a concussion.
