EAST LANSING — La’Darius Jefferson found a new school closer to home.
The former Michigan State football running back from Muskegon has transferred to Western Michigan, the school confirmed Friday. Jefferson will sit out this fall per NCAA transfer rules and will have two years of eligibility remaining starting in 2021.
In six games this season with the Spartans, the 6-foot-1, 223-pound Jefferson ran just 19 times for 25 yards and two TDs. The 2017 Gatorade Player of the Year in Michigan as a state-championship quarterback played in 17 games in two seasons at MSU, with 280 yards on 97 attempts and four TDs.
