Former Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis will help lure key sporting events to Detroit.
The Detroit Sports Commission announced Wednesday that Hollis has been named chair of the Detroit Sports Organization Corp.
Since leaving Michigan State amid the Larry Nassar scandal in January 2018, Hollis has been serving as the president of Rock Ventures and has aided in creating the Rocket Mortgage Classic and the Forbes Under 30 Summit.
“It’s an honor for me to lead a diverse and talented group of community leaders in metro Detroit that are committed to elevating the sports landscape here,” Hollis said in a statement.
