Former All-American Michigan State lineman Frank Kush dies at 88

EAST LANSING -- An All-American on the lines of Michigan State's first two national championship teams has passed away.

Frank Kush, a guard at Michigan State from 1950 through 1952, died on Thursday at age 88, the school announced.

Michigan State went 26-1 in Kush's three years on the team, including perfect 9-0 seasons in 1951 and 1952.

Kush played on the defensive line in 1950 and 1951. He started on the offensive line in 1952, before being moved back to defense. He earned All-American honors from six selectors

After his playing career, Kush went on to coach Arizona State from 1958 to 1979, compiling a 176-54-1 record.
