Forbes shakes slump as Michigan State halts slide

East Lansing — Denzel Valentine said Michigan State’s matchup on Saturday with Maryland was a “championship game.”

And with the possibility of losing four straight games for the first time in nine years staring them in the face, the Spartans gave an effort that at least got them thinking making a run in the Big Ten is possible.

Bryn Forbes broke out of his shooting slump to score 25 points for No. 11 Michigan State as it beat No. 7 Maryland, 74-65, ending a three-game skid, including a two-game slide at home.
