In remarks to a congressional committee on Tuesday, Michigan State University interim president John Engler acknowledged he has made mistakes in his six months on the job following the scandal involving sports medicine doctor Larry Nassar but said the university itself is well under way to reform.
Engler, speaking to a U.S. Senate subcommittee chaired by U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., also defended himself against some of the complaints made against him, including that of Kaylee Lorincz, who was abused by Nassar and said Engler offered her $250,000 to settle her lawsuit against MSU without her attorney present.
