Dashaun Mallory desperately wanted to give his word, and have it accepted.
It was early February with the second national signing period just days away and Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio was in suburban Chicago to check up on him.
Mallory had already made it clear he wanted to join the program and that desire was reciprocated by the coaching staff. However, Dantonio told the three-star defensive tackle from Bolingbrook High School in Illinois he still couldn't verbally commit to Michigan State. It was one of a couple times Mallory allowed his frustration with the process to cloud a clear vision.
