Draymond Green delivered a strong message to the NCAA: it is time for college sports to change.

The Saginaw native and former Michigan State basketball star co-wrote an editorial for ESPN.com with U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Connecticut) calling for athletes to be paid, using schools’ push to play during coronavirus pandemic and the ongoing racial unrest as starting points for discussion.

“As mostly white college athletic directors require their mostly Black football players to return to campus for "voluntary" workouts amid a growing pandemic, we can no longer ignore how both the COVID-19 crisis and the growing movement for civil justice require us to have an urgent conversation about the fundamental inequities in college sports today,” the 30-year old NBA All-Star and 46-year-old senator wrote.
