Documentary showing MSU's role in desegregation in need of support for expected release date

"Through the Banks of the Red Cedar," a documentary by Maya Washington, the daughter of former MSU wide receiver Gene Washington, highlights the legacy of the historic 1965 Spartan football team.

The documentary shows the critical role MSU played in racial desegregation, thanks to the strategies of legendary head football coach Duffy Daugherty.

"Through the Banks of the Red Cedar" is Maya Washington’s first major feature film and is currently in post-production editing, and if all goes according to plan the film should be released early 2016.

However, she still is in need of donations to meet the goal of an early 2016 release.
