EAST LANSING – Michigan State's 1999-2000 national championship team will be honored today at the Breslin Center and on hand to watch the No. 1 Spartans take on Florida, the program that fell to MSU on April 3, 2000, for the lone championship of Tom Izzo's tenure and the second in school history.
That means an appearance from Mateen Cleaves, one of the three leaders Izzo considers elite — Travis Walton and Draymond Green are the others — in his first 20 seasons as head coach.
After season No. 21 is over, that list might include five names.
