EAST LANSING -- Maybe Shavon Shields was just too good, too motivated, too precise and too much for any Michigan State defender to handle.

Maybe they could have remembered the top line of Shields’ scouting report — DON’T LET HIM DRIVE RIGHT.

Regardless of the credit/blame distribution, it was 28 points for Shields on Wednesday at MSU and a 72-71 Nebraska win. And it’s a three-game losing streak for the No. 11 Spartans (16-4, 3-4 Big Ten). And tonight will be the most difficult task yet for an MSU defense that is suffering from limited connectivity.

“We’ve got to figure out a way to scam our defense a little bit differently,” coach Tom Izzo said, “so that we can stop these guys that are having big nights.
