Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio this morning named his team captains for this season: defensive end Shilique Calhoun, center Jack Allen and linebacker Darien Harris, all fifth-year seniors.
Calhoun, a 6-foot-5, 250-pounder from Middletown, N.J., has been an All-Big Ten performer for the Spartans the past two seasons, and a second-team All-America.
Allen, a 6-2, 296-pounder from Hinsdale, Ill., who anchors one of the nation's top offensive lines, also has been a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
Harris, a 6-foot, 220-pounder from Silver Springs, Md., is one of the strongest players in college football and is on the preseason watch list for the Butkus Award, for the nation's top linebacker.
