CHICAGO – Greg Jones, Max Bullough, Denicos Allen and Eric Gordon may come to mind first, but Mark Dantonio holds fifth-year senior Ed Davis in similar regard – at least.
“He may be as good a linebacker as we’ve had,” Dantonio said of the 6-foot-3, 233-pound Detroit Southeastern product. “I’m talking about from sideline to sideline, the ability to slip blocks, the ability to get off blocks, the ability to pressure quarterbacks, make tackles.”
Davis had 58 tackles as a junior starter at the strong-side or “money” linebacker position, 12 for losses with seven sacks, and his 200 production points (awarded for a variety of plays) were enough to lead the team.
