East Lansing — Expectations are high for Michigan State this season, and it all begins Saturday as the Spartans’ first practice gets under way.
The team reported for camp Friday as it prepares for the Sept. 4 opener at Western Michigan and there are plenty of storylines to watch, including who will carry the load at running back and which players will step in for the Spartans in the secondary.
Until those issues are hammered out, however, it will be difficult enough for the first-year players to start feeling comfortable with their new surroundings.
“Today is reporting day and we’ll have a couple of meetings and a media workshop with them,” Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio said Friday on The Drive with Jack on 92.
