EAST LANSING – There is perhaps no greater validation that your college football program has surpassed all expectations than having the head coach of a program you once emulated describe your program as the benchmark.
“I think now, as I came back here, we’re trying to emulate what Michigan State’s doing,” Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst said this week, ahead of the Badgers’ visit to Spartan Stadium.
MSU under Mark Dantonio has surpassed the Badgers, existing these days in a new stratosphere.
“Looking forward, we’re up there I guess among some others,” Dantonio said.
That doesn’t mean MSU should stop using Wisconsin as a long-term guide.
