Just as Villanova wrapped up its decisive win over Michigan in the national championship game Monday night, I received a text from an old friend:
“If you need a quote from an MSU alum for a column this week, here it is: ‘I feel better now,’” he wrote.
I get the sentiment. I understand why Michigan State fans didn’t want the Wolverines to have a national title — especially in men’s basketball, MSU’s best sport, the sport that gave MSU athletics its swagger, the sport where the Spartans had, at one point, a clear advantage over their rival.
