EAST LANSING – I’d be curious if there’s ever been a greater program recovery in college football history than what Michigan State is in the process of pulling off.
Not just last year’s seven-win upgrade from 3-9 to 10-3. But also what could be next.
Consider that of Michigan State’s 24 expected starters this season, kicker and punter included, only seven are seniors.
And of the 21 returning starters from last season, 14 could still be around next season.
In other words, while MSU has a tremendous opportunity over the next few months — a gifted veteran quarterback, depth and experience throughout the roster, Michigan and Ohio State at home — this ought to be a two-year run on the national stage for this group.
