EAST LANSING — Lansing State Journal columnist Graham Couch gives three takeaways from Michigan State basketball's win Saturday vs. Nebraska:
1. A.J. Hoggard starts, Rockett Watts off the bench — I like the lineup … for now
Michigan State’s basketball team badly needed a spark and a change of vibe entering Saturday night’s game at Nebraska. And so I liked the decision to start freshman A.J. Hoggard at point guard, ahead of Foster Loyer. And to have Rocket Watts come off the bench.
It worked at Nebraska. Hoggard provided a jolt. And if you need a jolt as badly as MSU did, you don’t start Loyer, who’s already playing 19 minutes a game.
