Cook was the No. 33 pro-style quarterback in the 2011 class and went on to smash program records at Michigan State. He redshirted his freshman season and appeared in three games backing up Andrew Maxwell in 2012. Cook won the starting job early in 2013 and led the Spartans to a Big Ten championship win over Ohio State and Rose Bowl victory over Stanford. He guided Michigan State to a Cotton Bowl victory over Baylor the following season and turned down a chance to leave for the NFL.
