EAST LANSING - Facing third-and-9 on its game-opening drive, Michigan State quarterback Brian Lewerke immediately spotted his target.
Cody White, streaking down the sideline, gained inside position and Maryland cornerback Ravon Davis responded by using his left arm to get inside the receiver's shoulder pads for a tackle before the ball even arrived. White maintained his focus through contact and a pass interference call to adjust and make a diving catch for a 24-yard gain before going out of bounds.
"It basically was my stepping stone back to playing football again," White recalled of the play in a 24-3 win at Maryland on Nov.
