EAST LANSING, Mich. – Coaching at the Air Force Academy was a transformative experience for Michigan State football assistant Ron Burton.
“It’s something I will carry with me for a lifetime,” said Burton. “And our family has a big part of our history out there.”
Burton coached the Falcons’ defensive line for 10 seasons before beginning work in the same capacity under MSU head coach Mark Dantonio in 2013. A former four-year veteran of the NFL, Burton couldn’t help but be profoundly influenced by the discipline and regimentation he witnessed on a daily basis in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where the cadets have a lot more on their plates than football and classes.
