EAST LANSING -- Cassius Winston's first offseason in East Lansing was motivated by what he didn't want to happen again.
Winston had just completed a freshman season that included some standout passing and scoring moments, but was highlighted mostly by turnover issues and defensive lapses.
Those shortcomings stayed on his mind all through that offseason.
"I wasn't going to go through a year like that again," Winston said. "That's how I went through the summer."
The result was a sophomore season in which Winston turned himself into a standout shooter, an improved defender and showcased his passing abilities even more while cleaning up mistakes.
