Evanston, Ill. — Less than a minute into the game on Wednesday night, it was clear this was going to be different for Cassius Winston.
The Michigan State star struggled from the field just a few days ago in the Spartans’ victory over Oakland, going 3-for-13 and making just one his nine 3-point attempts.
Against Northwestern, it didn’t take long for Winston to prove he was going to flip the script, hitting the first two shots of the game – both 3-pointers – as No. 15 Michigan State held off a handful of Northwestern runs to earn the 77-72 victory at Welsh-Ryan Arena to remain the only unbeaten team in Big Ten play.
