EAST LANSING — Production has not come easily for the Michigan State football offense. Hasn’t for a year.

Same for the Spartans’ opponents. For the most part.

Which brings Mark Dantonio to a great conundrum: How can a top-flight defense carry an offense and outlast another team game after game?
