Basketball school would be putting it nicely.
The Kansas football program has just six bowl wins in its 129-year history, one winning conference season in 23 years and spends each fall as the butt of Big 12 jokes.
Les Miles will handle the one-liners now, though, and take over the downtrodden Jayhawks program. The former LSU and Oklahoma State head coach received a five-year contract and was officially introduced Sunday in Lawrence.
The 65-year-old Miles has been out of a job since 2016, but he has 141 career wins.
"The national profile of our football program has improved immediately and dramatically today," said Kansas AD Jeff Long, who crossed paths with Miles when both were at Michigan.
