Brian Lewerke's emergence makes QB a position of strength for MSU but depth is untested

Editor's note: This is the first part of a series projecting Michigan State's depth chart by position heading into fall camp.

While evaluating his presumptive starting quarterback, Mark Dantonio set the bar about as high as he could.

The Michigan State coach compared Brian Lewerke to Kirk Cousins and Connor Cook - two of the best quarterbacks in program history.

This was last July and Dantonio's lofty praise could have been questioned given the lack of evidence to support it. Lewerke had an 0-2 record as a starter and appeared in just four games before suffering a broken leg.
