Brian Lewerke has considered sitting out rest of season but doesn't want to give up on team

EAST LANSING - Brian Lewerke hasn't been healthy for a month.

The Michigan State redshirt junior quarterback has an injured right throwing shoulder and played through it again in Saturday's 26-6 loss to Ohio State in East Lansing. After the defeat, Lewerke acknowledged he has considered sitting out the rest of the season to heal.

"It's crossed my mind," he said, "but I don't want to give up on this team."

Lewerke suffered the injury in a 21-17 win at Penn State on Oct. 13, which was capped by his 25-yard touchdown pass to Felton Davis in the final minute.
