EAST LANSING - Michigan State returned all three starting receivers from last season.
Felton Davis, Darrell Stewart Jr. and Cody White combined for 140 catches for 1,767 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2017. The trio formed one of the best receiving groups in the Big Ten and perhaps the nation.
However, in early August, Michigan State wide receivers coach Terrence Samuel made sure to mention another player.
"You should know who Brandon Sowards is," Samuel said. "If it wasn't for that injury, he might have been in that same group that you'd be talking about as a strong wide receiver corps.
