Indianapolis – Michigan State came to the Big Ten tournament looking for the championship it let slip away in the regular season.
And with a gritty performance against Purdue on Sunday in the title game, that’s exactly what No. 2 Michigan State got with a 66-62 victory at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in front of a partisan Boilermakers crowd.
Denzel Valentine scored 15 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had nine assists as Michigan State (29-5) won its fifth Big Ten Conference tournament championship and might have locked up a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Valentine was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament.
