MINNEAPOLIS — It looked like Michigan State had discovered the secret formula for solving Texas Tech’s smothering defense.
The Spartans made 5 of their first 9 shots. They were working hard but getting good looks. They led by five points nearing the midpoint of the first half.
Then Aaron Henry picked up two fouls. Matt McQuaid began to wear down and stopped scoring.
