East Lansing — While Michigan State’s offense continues to be a work in progress, the Spartans will have to rely on their defense.
They did that Saturday against Central Michigan, forcing two first-half turnovers that led to 10 points and helped spark No. 21 Michigan State to a 31-20 victory in front of 73,752 at Spartan Stadium.
With the offense, again, unable to find a rhythm, the defense was on point early.
The first points from the Spartans (3-1, 1-0 Big Ten) came thanks to an interception from safety David Dowell that set up the first touchdown drive.
