After a spring like no other, Michigan State steps out into the light at spring game

EAST LANSING -- After a long winter, football returned to Michigan State on Saturday.

The Spartans held their annual spring game in front of a tempered Spartan Stadium crowd, marking their first public appearance since they stepped off of the field last November at Penn State to finish a 3-9 season.

That unprecedented fall from grace -- from a 12-2 season and College Football Playoff appearance in 2015 -- gave way to an offseason unlike any other.

Three unnamed Michigan State players were suspended in early February, as they were the subjects of an ongoing sexual assault investigation.
