The 2016-17 Michigan State basketball regular season is coming to a close, but there is still time to make an impression on the NCAA Tournament selection committee. With four regular season games left and a 16-11 overall record, Michigan State has some serious work to do.
Sure, Tom Izzo has gotten into the tournament with weaker teams before. In fact, it was in 2010-11 that his team with Kalin Lucas, Durrell Summers and a slew of other elite players went just 19-14 and got in, losing in the first round to UCLA. This team is much more cohesive than that one was and this year’s field may be even weaker.
