DETROIT, MI -- Although the Michigan and Michigan State basketball programs have been cleaning house when it comes to in-state recruits, Purdue just grabbed the top center in the state as Trevion Williams from the Detroit Henry Ford Academy School for Creative Studies has committed to the Boilermakers.
Michigan State had offered Williams, the fifth-ranked center in the country according to the 247Sports Composite, back in August of 2016. Yet, the 6-foot-8 Williams chose the Boilermakers on early Thursday afternoon despite their offer not coming until May 2 of this year.
Williams made the announcement over Twitter, Williams shared a personal summary of his life surrounding basketball, including growing up in a violent neighborhood of Chicago and the violent death of his uncle in 2015.
