We're just four days away from National Signing Day on February 3rd, which means head coach Mark Dantonio and the Michigan State Spartans are focusing their efforts in hopes of delivering a great 2016 recruiting class. With that in mind, here are the latest news and rumors you need to know for Michigan State Football Recruiting for January 31st.
Michigan State Targeting Jalen Cochran?
Dantonio and an assistant stopped by Canton High School Thursday, presumably to visit OLB/TE Jalen Cochran. He appeared to be an early target for MSU, but the interest waned as the season went on. With such little time left in the recruiting schedule, it seems like MSU was making a last pitch to get Cochran to head to East Lansing. Cochran visited Arizona this weekend and visited Miami (OH) earlier this month. Perhaps the last minute visit from MSU is enough to convince the three-star recruit. MSU Commit Makes Official Visit
Four-star WR Trishton Jackson has been committed to the Spartans since June, and made his first official visit to the team last week. 247Sports caught up with Jackson.
“I loved it,” Jackson said. “I loved being able to spend time with the team and get a feel as to what it is going on and what I need to prepare for.”
Jackson was a high school QB and will likely redshirt next season as he makes the transition to WR.
Lavert Hill Update
Hill is arguably the top target left for Michigan State. Earlier this week, Hill announced he wouldn't take his final official visit on Twitter. That leaves Penn State, Michigan State and Michigan as the three teams fighting for Hill. The four-star DB's brother plays at Michigan and they are considered the favorites. However, several of Hill's friends are going to Michigan State and the Spartans could end up finding a way to land Hill.
