The 2016 NCAA Tournament is nearly here and people around the nation are filling out their brackets. There are a few favorites this year, with the No. 2 seed Michigan State Spartans among them.
Michigan State is a surprising No. 2 seed, as it posted an impressive 29-5 record and won the Big Ten. The Spartans seeding was a mistake and they'll prove that to the committee by winning the NCAA Tournament. Here are three reasons why Michigan State will win the NCAA Tournament.
3. Tom Izzo
Izzo is one of the best coaches in college basketball. He consistently produces in both the regular season and postseason. Izzo has guided Michigan State to the Elite Eight in back-to-back seasons and he's working with one of the best rosters in recent years at MSU. With Izzo at the helm, Michigan State is in position to win its first national title since 200.0.
2. Experienced, Deep Roster
Denzel Valentine is averaging 19.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game, so there's good reason for the senior guard to get most of the love. However, he's far from the only gifted player on the roster. Senior Bryn Forbes and Matt Costello also average at least 10 points per game. Michigan State also has a gifted freshman in Deyonta Davis. MSU is deep at guard and heavy on experience and that will help them capture the NCAA Tournament.
1. Getting Hot At The Right Time
The Spartans are peaking at the perfect. They've won nine straight games and 13 of their last 14 since getting over a mid-season swoon. That lone loss came against a talented Purdue team on the road, in overtime. MSU is getting hot at exactly the right time, and they'll parlay that into a national title.
