The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders have pulled the biggest upset so far in the 2016 NCAA Tourament. No. 15 seeded MTSU upset No. 2 seeded Michigan State Spartans 90-81 Friday.
The Spartans, who were one of the tournament favorites this year, never led in the game. Every time Michigan State pulled to within a score, the Blue Raiders managed to responded.
MTSU had five players put up double-figures. Reggie Upshaw led the way with 21 points, three rebounds, four assists and three blocks.
Matt Costello led the way for MSU with 22 points and eight rebounds. Denzel Valentine had a rough game shooting, putting up just 13 points on five of 12 shots. He had 12 assists, but also six turnovers.
Michigan State/Middle Tennessee now advances to the Round of 32. The Spartans/Blue Raiders will face Syracuse, after the Orange knocked off Dayton.
