Thanksgiving 2015 went a little differently for Miami freshman goaltender Ryan Larkin.
Less than a month earlier, playing for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (USHL), Larkin — having played in only four games early in the season to that point — received the unsettling news that he had torn the labrum in his right hip. He would require season-ending surgery and would not play again until he was due to join the Miami RedHawks in the summer of 2016.
Larkin underwent surgery in November — just about exactly a year ago — and that's when the recovery process began.
