Sergio Romo will become a free agent this offseason. The Miami Marlins will be looking for a closer. It appears this could be another reunion for the player and ballclub.
The Marlins traded the closer prior to the Minnesota Twins for minor league first baseman Lewin Diaz. There has been some chatter Romo wouldn’t mind returning to Miami, where he served as the team’s closer and had success for the 57-105 team.
It makes plenty of sense given Romo is a low-cost, high-reward type of acquisition that fits into what the front office wants to achieve in free agency this coming offseason.
