In the midst of #theprocess, the Marlins were never going to sign a Manny Machado or Bryce Harper this offseason. The most the team spent on a free-agent acquisition was the $2.5 million it gave to Sergio Romo. Jeter and Co. have instead continued the rebuild by adding some pieces to the farm system they hope will open Miami’s competitive window sooner rather than later.
Therefore, their best move of the offseason is the most obvious candidate: dealing J.T. Realmuto to the Phillies for Sixto Sanchez, Jorge Alfaro, and Will Stewart.
