Players Choice Awards: Giancarlo Stanton Voted Outstanding NL Player

NEW YORK (CBSMiami/AP) — In his quest to be the National League MVP, Giancarlo Stanton has added another accolade under his belt.

The Miami Marlins slugger was voted outstanding NL player in Players Choice Awards balloting by the Major League Baseball Players Association.

Just a few weeks ago, Stanton won his second Hank Aaron Award.

The 27-year-old masher set franchise records and led the MLB with 59 home runs and 132 RBI this season. His 59 homers were the most in the Majors since Barry Bonds hit 73.

Houston second baseman Jose Altuve was voted outstanding player for the second straight season.
