The Marlins fell to the Mets 8-3 Tuesday night as bullpen troubles haunted the team once again. Humberto Mejía got the start and gave up three runs over four innings, but Jesús Aguilar and Brian Anderson each knocked in a run to keep it close. Things came unraveled in the seventh and eighth however, as Nick Vincent, Stephen Tarpley and Brad Boxberger combined to allow the Mets to pull away for the victory with five insurance runs. Playoff odds dropped to 16.
