The Marlins won in West Palm Beach for the second time in as many days, out-slugging the Nationals on Tuesday night, 4-3. Home runs by Joe Dunand and Adam Duvall accounted for most of Miami’s offense.
Facing a Nats lineup that featured many of the expected Opening Day starters, Trevor Rogers racked up five strikeouts in his four innings of work. It was nearly a scoreless effort from the large left-hander, but Lewis Brinson got a poor read on Kyle Schwarber’s fly ball to right, turning it into an RBI double. Rogers allegedly topped out at 96 miles per hour on his fastball (no Statcast set up at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, unfortunately).
