Looking to help fill the massive void created when they traded their entire outfield, the Marlins on Wednesday signed Cameron Maybin to a one-year deal.
Maybin, 30, won a World Series ring in a backup role with the Houston Astros last season and has 11 years of big-league experience. He’ll likely vie for a starting role while the Marlins wait for their younger outfielders develop in the minors.
It’s not Maybin’s first time with the Marlins.
He was part of a six-player package the Marlins received from the Detroit Tigers in their 2006 trade for Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis.
